First of all it isn’t a fish and secondly it isn’t brown! In German the harbour porpoise is called Schweinswal, which translates as sea pig, which is also the original meaning of porpoise.
In the Dolfinarium they also play with the trainers, water jets, toys, ice-cubes and sometimes even with the Dolfinarium’s guests!
The Dolfinarium has a large group of more than 25 dolphins, in 2 locations: Dolfijnendelta (Dolphin Delta) and DolfijndoMijn (Dolphin Domain).
During the great shows in DolfijndoMijn dolphins and trainers demonstrate how well they work together.
In Dolfijnendelta newly born dolphins live alongside other dolphins of all ages; some dolphins are even over 40 years old!
Walruses are not only the largest animals in the Dolfinarium, but also the heaviest!
Everyone knows the common seal. They can often be seen in the Wadden area. You can also find them in the North Atlantic Ocean, the Baltic and the Irish Sea.
Grey seals are considerably larger than common seals and have a conical head. They occur in the Wadden Sea as well. But they also live in colder areas around Norway, the British Isles and Iceland.
Three species of sea lion live in the Dolfinarium: Californian sea lions, Steller sea lions and Patagonian sea lions.
