Terms and Conditions for ‘Closer to animals’

The Dolfinarium has set a number of criteria to which participants in the programme ‘In the water with dolphins‘, ‘In the water with dolphins V.I.P.‘, ‘Closer to sea lions‘, ‘Sleeping near dolphins‘ and ‘Photo opportunity Dolphin‘, ‘Photo opportunity Sea Lion‘ or ‘Photo opportunity Combo deal‘ must comply. The programme does not include park admission: a valid ticket is required for participation in the programme. You can order this here. The following general sales conditions apply to this programme.

Terms and Conditions per programme

In the water with dolphins (V.I.P.)

Participant:

  • Has a minimum height of 140 cm (4’6″);
  • Is at least 8 years old (children up to the age of 12 must be accompanied by a participating adult*);
  • Has permission from their parent/legal guardian (signature required) if the participant is under 18;
  • Speaks and understands Dutch or English;
  • Does not have an intellectual disability;
  • Is able to follow direct instructions given by staff;
  • Does not have an impairment that falls within the autism spectrum and/or related syndromes that may affect participation in a programme in an unknown group;
  • Has no physical disability or impairment and can kneel, sit on their knees, bend and keep their balance;
  • Is in good physical condition;
  • Is able to swim;
  • Is not pregnant;
  • Has no infectious skin problems and/or external inflammation;
  • Does not suffer from epilepsy;
  • Does nog suffer from cardiovascular disease;
  • Does not use medication that suppresses the immune system;
  • Does not use medication that may adversely affect the ability to drive;
  • Has a shoe size that is smaller than or equal to size 50. In case of deviating sizes it is important to contact [email protected] The wading trousers may not fit!

* An adult participant may accompany a maximum of 2 participating children.

Cancellation
The Dolfinarium reserves the right to cancel the programme in the event of unforeseen circumstances or when there are less than 4 participants. We will set a new date in consultation with the participant.

Closer to sea lions

Participant:

  • Is at least 6 years old (children up to the age of 12 must be accompanied by a participating adult*);
  • Has permission from their parent/legal guardian (signature required) if the participant is under 18;
  • Speaks and understands Dutch or English;
  • Does not have an intellectual disability;
  • Is able to follow direct instructions from the staff;
  • Does not have an impairment that falls within the autism spectrum and/or related syndromes that may affect participation in a programme in an unknown group;
  • Has no physical disability or impairment and can walk and stand independently and keep their balance;
  • Is in good physical condition;
  • Has no infectious skin problems and/or external inflammation;
  • Does not suffer from epilepsy;
  • Does not suffer from cardiovascular disease;
  • Does not use medication that suppresses the immune system;
  • Does not use medication that may adversely affect the ability to drive;

* An adult participant may accompany a maximum of 2 participating children.

Cancellation
The Dolfinarium reserves the right to cancel the programme in the event of unforeseen circumstances or when there are less than 4 participants. We will set a new date in consultation with the participant.

Sleeping near dolphins

During the ‘Sleeping near Dolphins’ programme, safety and the quality of the programme are important for all participants. That is why the following terms and conditions apply regarding participation:

  • Age: the programme is suitable for children from ages 8 up to and including 12. A maximum of 25 children take part.
  • Mobility: we are active during the programme, and exercise is important. If a participant is less mobile, it is important to discuss their participation beforehand.
  • Language: for the safety of both the participants and animals, it is important that you are able to follow direct instructions. Speaking the Dutch language is a requirement.
  • Understanding: if the participant is a person with a cognitive impairment, we require prior consultation about the possibility to participate.

After your booking, you will receive a criteria form that needs to be filled out for each participant and brought with you on the day of participation. Please note: clearly state all details (diets and medication, but also other things that are useful for the supervisors to know).

If it becomes apparent on the day of participation that a participant does not meet the conditions, the Dolfinarium reserves the right to exclude the participant without any form of refund.

If there are less than 6 participants, the Dolfinarium reserves the right to cancel the programme. A new date will be set in consultation with the participant.

  • You are able to walk independently and kneel or sit on your knees;
  • You are at least 1 metre tall (3.3 ft);
  • You must follow the instructions of our employees at all times. The animals can react unpredictably to undesirable behaviour;
  • Excluding park admission; valid admission is required.

Change or cancel your programme

Changing programmes

A change fee will be charged for any changes. The change fee depends on the moment of change in relation to the date for which the programme has been reserved. The possibility to change is subject to availability and is only possible to change to a date within the opening hours of the current season.

The change fees charged by the Dolfinarium are:

  • Up to 1 month before participation in the programme that has been booked, no fees;
  • From 1 month to 10 working days before participation in the programme that has been booked, €15 per ticket;
  • Within 10 working days before participation in the programme that has been booked, €25 per ticket;
  • Changes on the day itself are not possible and are considered a cancellation. The programme costs will not be refunded.

Your reservation can be changed in accordance with the conditions by sending an e-mail to the Interaction Department: [email protected].

Cancelling programmes

The Dolfinarium reserves the right to cancel the programme in the event of unforeseen circumstances or when there are less than 4 participants. We will set a new date in consultation with the participant.

If the participant cancels the programme, the Dolfinarium will charge the following cancellation fees:

  • Up to 1 month before participation in the programme that has been booked, 35% of the programme costs;
  • From 1 month to 10 working days before participation in the programme that has been booked, 60% of the programme costs;
  • Within 10 working days before participation in the programme that has been booked or on the day itself, the cancellation fees are 100% and there will be no refund of the programme costs.
